SBS Transit, a leading public transportation operator in Singapore, commemorates its 50th anniversary with a series of special initiatives, including themed train decorations that trace the evolution of public transport in Singapore and a new collaboration with Enterprise Singapore.
To honor this grand “SBS Transit Anniversary”, the operator has rolled out specially designed trains that pay tribute to the spirit of the past, showcasing the transformation of Singapore’s public transport from the 1970s to the 2020s. These themed trains feature illustrations of vintage buses that used to ply local highways, offering a vivid ride through history
SBS Transit’s journey began with the merger of three private bus companies, a move orchestrated by then-Prime Minister Mr. Lee Kuan Yew to streamline efficiency and improve services.
The “SBS Transit Celebration Events” extend to more than just visual spectacles, as the operator takes steps to uplift the industry’s future. Announced as part of the “Activities for SBS Transit Anniversary”, a Bus Captain Training and Certification Centre is set up at Ulu Pandan Bus Depot, due 2024, to enhance the quality of training for bus captains.
Capitalising on its golden “SBS Transit Anniversary Ceremony”, the company plans to strengthen its commitment to innovation in public transport.
A significant “SBS Transit Anniversary Milestone” is the formation of the SBS Transit Mobility Innovation Centre, a collaborative space born out of an alliance with Enterprise Singapore that seeks to foster the exchange of progressive ideas for an inclusive public transport system.
