Singaporean households to receive enhanced financial support through CDC vouchers worth S$500 starting in 2024.

To ease the cost of living for Singaporeans, the Singapore government has significantly increased the value of Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers for each household from S$300 to S$500. These vouchers, which can be claimed starting January 3, 2024, are split into two categories: S$250 for use at heartland merchants and hawkers and another S$250 for participating supermarkets.

The CDC Voucher Scheme has become a cornerstone of Singapore’s social support network, now updated to reflect the growing needs of the community. With the vouchers valid until the end of 2024, residents are encouraged to use them to support local businesses. However, those who find themselves with surplus vouchers have until January 31, 2024, to contribute to a meaningful cause by donating them via the CDC Vouchers Donation Scheme to participating charities, potentially earning tax deductions for their generosity.

An additional one-off 0.5-month service and conservancy charges are in store for about 950,000 HDB households. Further, HDB residents will also receive an extra S$20 each quarter. These rebates will be disbursed with the regular U-Save rebates to help cushion the impact of the carbon tax increases and water price increases in 2024 and 2025.

It is a straightforward process to redeem CDC vouchers. Eligible households will have options to utilize digital vouchers through a dedicated mobile app or stick to the traditional method of physical vouchers if they prefer. To partake in this scheme’s benefits, one simply has to watch out for the “CDC Vouchers Accepted Here” sign displayed prominently at the participating local stalls and outlets.
