Singapore braces for a rainy second half of January 2024, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected island-wide.
Singapore’s monsoon season is surging ahead as the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) issues a weather advisory for the coming days and from January 18 to 20, the city-state will experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder.
Residents are encouraged to carry umbrellas and allot additional time for their commutes during this wet spell. With the MSS forecasting continuous rain, temperatures are anticipated to hover between 23°C and 29°C.
The start of this coming fortnight will witness short-duration thundery showers, mostly occurring in the afternoons. Such weather conditions bring more than just rain; occasional gusty winds are also expected.
The MSS has advised that daily maximum temperatures are expected to range between 32°C and 33°C, with rainfall surpassing the Singapore average for the second half of this coming fortnight.
Singapore’s weather has been substantially wetter than usual, with the first fortnight of the month recording rainfall with anomalies reaching 184 percent above average in Kranji. Around Bukit Panjang, the lowest anomaly of 77 percent above average was recorded.
