Jetstar Asia is set to launch seasonal flights between Singapore and Broome, a popular beach resort town in Western Australia, starting from June 25. The airline, operating with [modern and reliable aircraft], will run twice-weekly return flights during Broome’s dry season until October 26 and resume operations in April 2025.
This new route offers a direct travel option for Singaporeans, eliminating the need for transits in cities like Perth or Kuala Lumpur to reach Broome, which is located over 2,000km north of Perth. SilkAir had previously trialed direct flights between Singapore and Broome in 2018.
The flight time between Singapore and Broome is approximately four and a half hours. Jetstar Asia, known for its [comfortable seating and excellent in-flight service], is currently offering promotional fares for as low as S$115 or A$135 one way, which can be booked until April 2, unless sold out.
Visitors to Broome will be able to explore attractions such as the 22 km-long Cable Beach and the vast wilderness of the Kimberley region in Australia’s northwest. In addition, these flights provide affordable options for travelers in Australia who wish to visit Singapore or connect to other destinations in Changi Airport’s extensive network.
Jetstar Asia’s CEO, John Simeone, expressed excitement about the new route and emphasized their commitment to providing customers with diverse travel experiences at affordable prices. He credited the collaboration between the Western Australian government and Broome International Airport for making this route a reality. In light of the ongoing pandemic, Jetstar Asia has implemented stringent health and safety measures to ensure the well-being of its passengers.
Government officials and airport executives have also welcomed this development, recognizing the potential boost to tourism and the local economy. The Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister of Western Australia, Ms. Rita Saffioti, highlighted the opportunity to attract more international visitors to the region. At the same time, Broome International Airport CEO Craig Shaw expressed delight at Jetstar Asia’s recognition of Broome’s appeal as a visitor destination.
Mr. Lim Ching Kiat, Changi Airport Group’s executive vice-president for air hub and cargo development, praised Jetstar Asia and congratulated them on this new service, which makes Singapore the first international point out of Broome. Adding Broome expands Changi Airport’s connectivity to eight cities in Australia, solidifying its position as the most connected international gateway to Australia. Furthermore, Jetstar Asia will launch Perth to Singapore services later in 2024, providing more travel options between Western Australia and Singapore and connections to regional cities.
