Air Canada has introduced its inaugural direct flight between Singapore and Vancouver, labeled AC19, landing at Changi Airport on Thursday morning. This marks a significant moment as the airline returns to the Changi Airport scene after a hiatus of over 30 years, demonstrating its continued commitment to the region.
Operating four times a week on the fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, the nonstop journey spans approximately 14 hours and 40 minutes and covers a vast distance of 12,818km, marking it as Air Canada’s lengthiest route to date.
Expressing enthusiasm, Lim Ching Kiat, the Executive Vice President for Air Hub & Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, shared that the recent spike in travel volume between Singapore and Canada, surpassing 85% of pre-pandemic levels, makes Air Canada’s arrival quite timely and encouraging.
Travelers on the Singapore-Vancouver route will have the luxury of choosing from three distinct cabins: Economy, Premium Economy, and Air Canada Signature Class, featuring lavish, lie-flat seating options in the latter.
Passengers on board can indulge in a plethora of entertainment options, such as movies, TV shows, music, and podcasts, courtesy of in-flight entertainment screens installed at every seat. This wide array of choices ensures that every passenger can find something to enjoy during the flight.
The Vancouver Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Tamara Vrooman, has lauded the new service, recognizing its potential to enhance tourism, bolster commercial exchanges, and foster closer bonds between families and friends across the Pacific region.
