The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), upon being notified on April 3, detailed that after a thorough inquiry, the educational center took immediate action by suspending the involved teacher, who later resigned and has not been employed in the preschool sector since.
The police were informed, and an ongoing investigation into the incident has been confirmed. The childcare facility chose not to comment on the matter. Due to legal protections under the Children and Young Persons Act, specifics that could reveal the identity of the minor or involved parties are withheld.
After the incident, the child’s parents sought legal action on the same day and followed a recommendation to have their daughter medically evaluated. A subsequent report highlighted a significant bruise on her leg. In communication with the family, ECDA recounted their verification process, which included reviewing surveillance footage and conversations with the facility’s staff, to determine the misconduct in classroom management techniques.
The child, having been moved to another institution, reportedly shifted her interests towards martial arts, with a newfound motivation to combat bullying, signaling a psychological impact from the incident. Her father expressed a significant relief that the responsible teacher no longer operates within the educational arena.
In light of this episode, ECDA emphasized the obligation for preschool services to adopt and execute preventative measures ensuring children’s safety and advocated for interaction methodologies that are suitable to the developmental stages of the children.
