PM Wong to deliver his first National Day Rally speech on Aug 18

Singapore will hear from its newly appointed leader, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as he is set to present his inaugural National Day Rally speech on the 18th of August. The announcement came from the Prime Minister’s Office on July 10th, noting that the significant address will take place at the Institute of Technical Education College Central, situated in Ang Mo Kio.

Having taken the reins as Singapore’s fourth prime minister on May 15, PM Wong, at the age of 51, is poised to continue the tradition of the National Day Rally, a pivotal fixture in the nation’s political landscape.

Last year’s rally, conducted by the preceding Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, was marked by notable announcements such as the introduction of the $7 billion Majulah Package, devised to assist individuals in their 50s and 60s with retirement planning. Additionally, PM Lee outlined extensive plans for housing development which incorporated a new categorization for the Build-to-Order flats, expanded public housing options catering to singles over the age of 35, and the implementation of senior-oriented improvements across existing HDB estates.
