In a recent update from the Workers’ Party (WP), Fadli Fawzi has been co-opted into its Central Executive Committee (CEC) and has taken up the role of Deputy Organising Secretary. The official announcement came through a WP Facebook post on July 17, marking a significant addition to the party’s leadership team.
Fawzi, who made his political debut in the 2020 General Elections representing Marine Parade GRC, has a background as a lawyer alongside experience as a senior policy development officer at the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS). He is noted for introducing himself to the political arena with a pantun, showcasing his engagement with traditional Malay poetic forms.
The WP’s CEC has seen several appointments and reappointments in its latest lineup. Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap and He Ting Ru have been named as Vice Chair and Treasurer, respectively, with Nathaniel Koh stepping in as Deputy Treasurer. The Organising Secretary role has been entrusted to Dennis Tan Lip Fong, supported by Deputy Organising Secretaries Ang Boon Yaw, Foo Seck Guan Kenneth, Tan Kong Soon, and now Fadli Fawzi.
The media team will be led by Chua Kheng Wee Louis, with Lee Li Lian acting as Deputy Head. In terms of policy, Gerald Giam has been appointed Head of Policy Research, with Jamus Lim serving as both Deputy Head and President of the WP Youth Wing.
Key figures Sylvia Lim and Pritam Singh continue to lead the party as Chair and Secretary-General. Low Thia Khiang remains a vital member of the CEC, alongside the new addition of former MP Lee Li Lian.
