A 29-year-old man has been arrested by the authorities for his alleged attempted burglary incident as reported by the police on August 25. The incident, which took place on August 24 around 12:10 pm, occurred within an office located at 36 Robinson Road. Upon the activation of the office’s security alarm, the man hastily made his escape, seeking refuge in an unoccupied unit on a different floor. Security personnel, aided by images captured by CCTV cameras, were able to locate the suspect in the vacant unit. The man was apprehended by law enforcement officers upon opening the door to the unit.
Preliminary investigations unveiled that the man had employed a metal rod to tamper with the entrance of the unit and the office’s roller shutter. Subsequently, a metal rod was confiscated as evidence by the police. The suspect is slated to appear in court on August 26 to face charges of attempted housebreaking, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine.
In light of this incident, law enforcement authorities are urging property occupants to bolster their security by adopting preventative measures. Suggestions include installing burglar alarms, motion sensor lights, and comprehensive CCTV coverage of all entry points. The police have recommended regular testing to ensure the functionality of security systems. Furthermore, property owners are advised to reinforce doors, roller shutters, windows, and other openings with high-quality grilles and secure padlocks, even for brief periods of absence from the premises. Valuables and large sums of cash should not be retained on the premises to mitigate potential risks.
