“can’t pay by card?”, NETS Terminals Facing Disruptions in Transactions

NETS-Related Services Under Distruption

NETS-related services at about 5% of the company’s terminal network have been affected since Monday morning (Sep 23), with QR, PIN, and tap transactions disrupted.

In response to the disruption, NETS advised customers in a Facebook post to use alternative forms of payment such as cash or Singapore Quick Response Codes (SGQR). The company has acknowledged the issue and assured they are working towards restoring the services promptly.

A source at a retail company, who preferred to remain anonymous, reported that most outlets faced difficulties in processing credit card transactions and performing batch settlements since 7 am. The issues seemed to be particularly affecting DBS and POSB cards, and the problem had not been resolved by Monday afternoon.

“Until now, we are still unable to perform NETS and card transactions.”

DBS, in a Facebook post, informed customers that payment transactions via some NETS terminals were temporarily unavailable. The bank recommended the use of DBS/POSB digibank, PayLah! to scan and pay SGQR codes, and to make payments via PayNow as an alternative solution.

Responding to enquiries, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) stated that they are in close contact with NETS regarding the recovery efforts for the affected terminals and ensuring timely communication to customers.

For any updates or additional information regarding this situation, customers are encouraged to follow the respective official announcements from the involved companies.
