In a precautionary measure, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has ordered the recall of all batches of Four Seasons Durians’ mini D24 mooncakes just five days before the Mid-Autumn Festival. The mini D24 durian mooncakes were found to have excessive levels of bacteria, specifically Bacillus cereus (B. cereus).
During a regulatory sampling of mooncakes, the SFA detected B. cereus in Four Seasons Durians’ mini D24 durian mooncakes, with levels exceeding the maximum limits stipulated in Singapore’s Food Regulations. This bacterium is a common cause of food poisoning and may lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.
As a result of the findings, the SFA directed Four Seasons Durians to recall all batches of the affected products. Consumers who have purchased the product are advised not to consume them and to contact their point of purchase for enquiries. If consumed, individuals should seek medical advice if they have health concerns.
In response to the recall, Four Seasons Durians issued a public apology, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to customers. The company is taking immediate action to address the issue and has initiated a refund process for affected customers.
Four Seasons Durians stated, “Please rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to prevent this from occurring again.”
The recall is ongoing, and consumers are advised to take necessary precautions. Those who have purchased the product can seek a refund by bringing the mooncakes to designated outlets with the receipt.
