Missing Singaporean Trekker in Everest Region of Nepal

Singaporean Went Missing During Mount Trekking in Everest

😢😢😢..

A Singaporean trekker, Harry Tan, has gone missing in the Everest region of Nepal, sparking search and rescue operations. The 76-year-old is believed to have disappeared near the Kongma La Pass trekking trail, one of the highest mountain passes in the Everest area at about 5,550m above sea level.

According to information obtained, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has been closely monitoring the situation and staying in touch with the family of the missing Singaporean, as well as with the Nepal authorities. An MFA spokesperson stated, “Search and rescue operations are underway, and we will continue to monitor developments and render consular support to the family.”

Member of the Parliament (MP) Wan Rizal expressed his concern through a Facebook post, saying, “May he be safe and sound, and may the search and rescue efforts be swift and successful. Let’s keep him in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”

This incident comes after a similar case in May 2023 when a Singaporean climber went missing after summiting Mount Everest due to high altitude cerebral edema, which can cause fatigue and loss of coordination.

The Kongma La Pass trek is known for its “steep ascent and rugged terrain”, and it requires hikers to have a “high level of physical fitness and endurance” before taking it on, as highlighted by adventure website Nature Lovers Treks & Tours.

Our thoughts are with Harry Tan and his family during this difficult time, and we hope for a safe return for the missing trekker.
