SCDF to Conduct Islandwide Public Warning Sound on September 15

(SCDF) Will Conduct A Public Warning Sound On Sunday

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be conducting a public warning system test on Sunday, September 15, by sounding the “Important Message” signal across the island. This minute-long exercise will commence at 6:20pm and will also trigger a 20-second alert on all smartphones equipped with the SGSecure mobile app.

Users must ensure their SGSecure notification and alert settings are enabled to receive the signal and accompanying text message. In the event of hearing the Important Message signal, the public is advised to immediately tune in to local radio stations or Mediacorp TV channels for further instructions.

On missing the message, individuals can visit go.gov.sg/pws for more information on the public warning system and its different signals. Annually, SCDF sounds the Important Message signal on February 15 and September 15 at 6:20pm through public warning system sirens strategically placed across the island.

The public warning system comprises a network of sirens strategically located throughout Singapore to alert residents of imminent threats that could pose a risk to lives and property. The Important Message signal is specifically used to notify the population of important broadcasts on radio or TV.

Furthermore, different signals such as the Alarm Signal indicate an imminent air raid or shelling, while the All Clear Signal signifies the conclusion of a threat. For more information, visit the SCDF website.
