According to a TikTok video shared by a resident, several individuals from the public came forward to assist the police during the arrest. The resident commended their actions, stating, “In what the resident described as a show of ‘good community spirit,’ about four to five men helped two police officers hold down the suspect.”

Describing the group as “quick-thinking,” the resident mentioned that the bystanders aided in subduing a “violent man.” One of the men even applied pressure to the suspect’s buttocks to keep him restrained until the arrival of the police. The suspect was heard shouting while being subdued and was released only after the police handcuffed him.
Following the initial assistance, more police officers and an ambulance arrived at the scene. The resident applauded the swift and professional police response, mentioning that the suspect was later taken to a nearby hospital. The collaborative effort was lauded by the resident, who acknowledged, “Kudos to the team effort… for keeping our neighbourhood safe.”
Responding to inquiries, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) revealed that they received a call for assistance on October 19 at around 5 pm regarding an incident at Block 107 Jalan Bukit Merah. The suspect, a 56-year-old individual, was arrested for “fraudulent possession of property and suspected drug-related offences.” The SPF further stated that the suspect was conveyed to the hospital conscious, and investigations are ongoing.
The incident in Bukit Merah serves as a reminder of the importance of communal support in ensuring public safety.
