ECP Accident Results in Nine-Car Pile-Up, SCDF Responds

Nine-Car Collision Sets Off Emergency Response

SINGAPORE: An accident involving around nine vehicles took place on the East Coast Parkway (ECP) on Thursday (Oct 3) afternoon, causing a pile-up that affected two lanes.

Confirming the incident, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) stated that they were notified at approximately 5.20pm about a road traffic collision along ECP towards Changi Airport, following the Fort Road exit. SCDF mentioned that four individuals were transported to Raffles Hospital.

“As per a traffic update by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) at 6.33pm, the accident occurred prior to the ECP’s Tanjong Katong Road exit, leading to congestion extending until the Fort Road exit. Motorists are advised to steer clear of lanes one and two of the expressway,” LTA highlighted.

Images and footage of the incident circulating on social media depicted nine vehicles, comprising taxis and cars, involved in the pile-up, with two vehicles stacked on top of each other.

Responding to queries, ComfortDelGro acknowledged that one of their taxis was part of the accident. A spokesperson from ComfortDelGro assured, “The welfare of our cabbies is our top priority, we are in contact and are providing support as needed.”
