On the morning of 18th November, a disturbing incident of theft took place outside the Little Pets Kingdom pet shop at Block 930 Yishun Central 1. The owner, Mr. Derrick He, revealed to MS News that several Labubu dolls were stolen from the popular claw machine he had installed outside his shop 10 months ago.
Mr. He expressed his shock and disappointment over the theft, stating, “The claw machine proved very popular recently, even helping to double sales.” He added, “I became aware of the incident after arriving at 9.30am and reported the theft to the police.”
The incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV, and Mr. He alleged to MS News, “CCTV footage shared with MS News showed two of the boys initially trying to tip the machine over at around 7am, before the shop opened.” Additionally, “One of them pushed it from one side while the other held it as it tilted over him.”
The thieving act continued for almost an hour, leading to an estimated total loss of around S$300, including up to five Labubu dolls and some other soft toys. Mr. He also provided photos to MS News, showing one of the boys walking away with a handful of Labubu boxes and toys.
Concerned about future thefts, Mr. He highlighted that the boys seemed unconcerned about the surveillance camera and expressed worries about the prospect of similar incidents in the future. The police have confirmed that a report concerning the theft has been lodged, and investigations are currently ongoing.
It’s distressing to see such incidents occurring, especially involving young individuals. The community and shop owners should work together to prevent such behavior and uphold the trust and safety of public property.
