Elderly Man Faces Molestation Charges on Singapore Airlines Flight

Elderly Man Accused of Molesting Women on SIA Flight, Faces Charges

Elderly man allegedly molested women on Singapore Airlines flight. An elderly man allegedly molested four women when travelling from the United States (US) to Singapore on a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight last Monday (18 Nov). 73-year-old Indian national Balasubramanian Ramesh is accused of molesting one of the women four times. He is also said to have targeted three others once each during the flight.

The man was handed seven molestation charges on Monday (25 Nov). Court documents did not specify whether the victims were passengers or crew members of the airline.

According to The Straits Times (ST), Balasubramanian is accused of molesting the first alleged victim at around 3.15am during the flight. He did the same to the second alleged victim about five minutes later. Between 3.30am and 6am, the 73-year-old allegedly molested the second woman three more times. He is also accused of outraging the modesty of a third woman at approximately 9.30am, and allegedly molesting a fourth woman later at about 5.30pm.

Balasubramanian is expected to plead guilty on 13 Dec. For each count of molestation, an offender faces up to three years’ jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of the punishments. However, the accused cannot be caned as he is over 50 years of age.
