An entrepreneurial individual has jumped on the Labubu trend in Singapore by setting up an online shop that now offers ‘NRICs’ for the popular dolls. These pink identity cards are miniature versions of Singaporean NRICs, featuring similarities in color and format. However, instead of bearing the words ‘Republic of Singapore’ in the top left corner, these cards proudly state ‘Republic of Labubu’.
According to a source on Instagram (@lalunarpops), the brand Lalunarpops has taken to social media to showcase its products. A TikTok video featuring the accessories has gained close to 2,000 shares at the time of writing.
The ‘NRICs’ are intended to be keychains that Labubu owners can attach to their beloved dolls. A caption on the TikTok post encourages Labubu owners to “Treat your Labubu well, get them an IC now.”
It has been revealed that there are two versions of ‘ICs’ available for the ‘Exciting Macaron’ and ‘Have A Seat’ series. Customers also have the option to choose the colorway that matches their Labubu at no extra cost, with the chosen color then being reflected in the photo on the IC.
Additionally, customers can opt to customize the name on the card for an additional cost of S$1. The Labubu accessories start from S$6.90 each, excluding delivery.
