The touching story of the 70-year-old Yakult auntie who tragically passed away after an alleged assault in Sengkang reveals the incredible resilience and determination of a woman who devoted her life to supporting her family.
Her eldest son told Shin Min Daily News that his late mother, Jasmine, became a widow when she was just 33.
At that time, she was working in an electronics factory in Ang Mo Kio.
In order to raise her children who were aged under one, four, and six at that time, she sewed and tailored clothes, and even worked as a cleaner.
Jasmine experienced immense hardship early in life when she became a widow at the young age of 33. Despite facing such adversity, she worked tirelessly to provide for her young children, taking up multiple jobs such as sewing, tailoring clothes, and working as a cleaner.
Customers were her priority. Jasmine’s eldest son also told the Chinese media that his mother was very focused on her work as a Yakult Auntie, and her regular customers were her priority. Whenever she went overseas for a vacation, she would make it a point to return within a week.
Jasmine’s dedication to her work as a Yakult auntie knew no bounds, as she prioritized her loyal customers above all else. Even when taking short vacations, she made sure to swiftly return to fulfill her commitments to her customers.
“‘My mother never argued with others. She would consider it a blessing even if she suffered losses. The way she endured her hardships actually inspired me. No matter what kind of difficulties I encountered, I know I can get through them,” said her son.
She was of the view that she had a hard life but chose to face it, her son said.
The unwavering positivity and resilience exhibited by Jasmine in the face of adversity left a lasting impact on her son, motivating him to navigate his own challenges with strength and determination.
Her family said they wished more witnesses can come forward and shed light on the incident that took Jasmine’s life.
Jasmine’s family is hopeful that more witnesses will come forward to provide clarity and justice regarding the tragic incident that led to her death.
According to charge sheets, a 30-year-old Singaporean man, Lim Chuan Xun, was charged over the incident.
He is being charged with allegedly voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the victim by punching Jasmine on the right side of her face.
The alleged assailant, Lim Chuan Xun, has been charged in connection with the incident, facing serious allegations of causing grievous harm to Jasmine.
