Mr. Lin expressed a hopeful sentiment, wishing that the thief would return to the store and seek forgiveness through a humble gesture: “admit his mistake to the gods.” In a surprising turn, Mr. Lin mentioned that they would not pursue the matter if the culprit chose to come forward and reveal his misdeed, suggesting that the money taken might alleviate difficulties the thief faced in his life. “Perhaps the money can help him,” he mentioned.
