Chinese National to Face Charges in Malaysia for Kidnapping Singaporean Student

Malaysian Authorities Set to Prosecute Chinese National for Abducting Singaporean Student

“A Chinese national is expected to be charged in Malaysia on Dec 5 with the kidnapping of a 15-year-old student in Singapore,” says Johor police chief M. Kumar. The 22-year-old man is set to face charges under Section 365 of the Penal Code, for kidnapping or abducting a person with the intent to wrongfully confine them in secret. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in jail and a fine.

The incident began when the Chinese student was allegedly abducted in Singapore on Nov 24, before willingly crossing over to Malaysia with the suspect on the same day. The student’s father, a 48-year-old Chinese national, became concerned when his daughter didn’t show up at school on Nov 25. He promptly reported her missing to the Singapore police and informed the Johor police about her disappearance.

Fortunately, the missing teen was located by Malaysian authorities in Kuantan, Pahang, following a raid on Nov 26.
