The 2024 edition of Google’s Year In Search lists have been released, showcasing the topics that captured the attention of Singaporeans throughout the year. Among the top searches in Singapore were Taylor Swift and Labubu, reflecting the diverse interests of the populace.

To quote from the article, “Taylor Swift and Labubu are among the top 10 searches by those in Singapore this year – with the Grammy Award-winning songstress ranking in fourth place and the adorably ugly mascot making the cut at 10th.” Such findings highlight the popularity of both international celebrities and local icons in the search landscape.

According to the data, the soccer championship UEFA Euro 2024 emerged as the most searched term in Singapore, following Spain’s victory over England with a score of 2-1. Among other popular searches were the Thai movie “How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” and singer Liam Payne, who passed away in October.

Moreover, Taylor Swift dominated as the top searched international personality, with her partner Travis Kelce also making the list at 10th place. Notable names like Donald Trump and Bruno Mars also captured the attention of searchers in Singapore.

On a local front, Olympic medalist Max Maeder surpassed figures like Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his wife Ms Loo Tze Lui as the most searched Singaporean personality of 2024. This indicates a trend towards celebrating homegrown talents and achievements.

In the entertainment realm, the Thai movie “How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies” reigned supreme as the most-searched movie in Singapore, surpassing even blockbusters like “Inside Out 2” and “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Meanwhile, K-dramas like “Queen Of Tears” and “Marry My Husband” continued to captivate audiences, securing top spots in the list of most searched TV shows.
