Despite the deluge, passengers were seen cautiously making their way through the waterlogged area, with some resorting to creative measures for protection. A man braved the downpour, walking down the escalator completely drenched but seemingly unruffled. Meanwhile, another individual shielded her head with a towel as she traversed the waterlogged path towards the exit.

The user commented on the probable cause, attributing the flooding to the heavy rainfall that inundated Singapore on 29th December. Netizens on TikTok joined in the discussion, with one humorously noting that Changi Jewel’s iconic waterfall had seemingly found a new location in an MRT station.

Expressing concern for the safety of elderly passengers navigating the flooded station, a commenter highlighted the potential risks of slipping and falling in such conditions. The incident prompted netizens to await an official statement from SBS Transit regarding the unfortunate event at the Chinatown MRT station.
