😱😱😱
The upcoming Jurong Region Line (JRL) construction site experienced a disruption when a worker fell from a height of 9 meters. The incident occurred near Block 737 Jurong West Street 75, with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responding promptly to the situation. According to SCDF, the incident was reported at around 3.45am on December 4. The injured worker was conveyed to the National University Hospital (NUH) for medical attention.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) revealed that the worker fell while working on a metal platform at the JRL construction site. LTA stated that, “the worker fell from a height of about 9m.” In response to the incident, work at the JRL worksite has been halted to allow for a review and strengthening of safety procedures. LTA is collaborating with the contractor, China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation, to assist the injured worker and support ongoing investigations by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
Regrettably, this is the second accident involving a worker at the JRL site this year. In January, a 27-year-old worker succumbed to injuries after falling 7.5 meters at a different location near Jurong West Street 75. The recent incident adds to a series of safety concerns at the JRL worksite, including an incident where a metal rod fell from an elevated track section in October.
