“Man, 21, smashes ex-girlfriend’s phone after breakup, allegedly gets punched by her male friend, 16, at Jurong West flat.”

The male friend, aged 16, is currently assisting with police investigations for voluntarily causing hurt.

A 21-year-old man from Singapore reportedly took his ex-girlfriend’s phone and damaged it on November 3, 2024, following the end of their two-month relationship.

Based on information from Shin Min Daily News, the next day, the man agreed to meet his ex-girlfriend at his grandmother’s flat in Jurong West. However, upon opening the door, he was unexpectedly confronted by his ex-girlfriend’s father, older brother, and the male friend, aged 16. The altercation escalated when the male friend punched the man’s face multiple times, only stopping when the man’s grandmother intervened.

Following the incident, the man’s family sought medical attention for him and lodged a police report. The man’s father, referred to as Cai, stated that the relationship started in September 2024 after meeting on social media but abruptly ended after just two months. Cai’s son displayed impulsive behavior by smashing his ex-girlfriend’s phone during a heated argument.

During the conflicts that arose, the police were contacted after the ex-girlfriend and her male friend attempted to meet Cai’s son late into the night. The situation further escalated the next evening when the ex-girlfriend’s family and friend reportedly confronted Cai’s son at his grandmother’s residence in Jurong West. The male friend allegedly punched Cai’s son multiple times, leading to police involvement.

Cai later disclosed that he compensated the ex-girlfriend with the requested amount for the damaged phone. The involvement of the male teenager in causing harm is still under investigation by the Singapore Police Force, with the injured party not requiring hospitalization.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
