The incident involving a Grab delivery rider in Singapore who was caught allegedly stealing slippers from a resident was captured on CCTV. According to the footage, after making a delivery and hanging the order on a gate hook, the rider was seen taking a pair of Adidas slippers from the resident’s shoe rack. The video then showed him placing the slippers back on the rack in what appeared to be a hurried manner. It was later revealed that the rider’s actions were questioned by the resident, resulting in a conversation where the rider claimed innocence.
As the resident confronted the rider about the stolen slippers, the rider attempted to explain himself by saying, “see properly” and denying the theft accusation. Despite the resident presenting the CCTV evidence, the rider admitted to returning the slippers but denied the intent to steal, stating that he was only checking if the slippers had an anti-slip base. This led to speculations from netizens, with one suggesting that the rider noticed the CCTV camera and decided to return the slippers, while another believed that the rider’s conscience played a role in correcting his actions.
In response to the incident, a Grab spokesperson confirmed that the company was aware of the situation and after an investigation, the delivery-partner was suspended from the platform.
