Johor Bahru Car Wash Leaves Singaporean Customer Disappointed

JB Car Wash Mishap Sparks Cross-Border Customer Concerns

From fair to unfair, spinning in circles…

A Singaporean woman, identified only as Jenny, was left dismayed after a car wash in Johor Bahru (JB) allegedly failed to vacuum her car despite being charged RM12 (S$3.65) for the service. The incident was recounted by Jenny to The New Straits Times, prompting concerns about the poor service.

Jenny explained the situation by highlighting that even after agreeing to the price for both washing and vacuuming her car, upon returning about an hour later, her car had not been vacuumed. When she inquired, she was informed that the vacuum cleaner was out of order, but was still charged the same amount.

Upon requesting to speak to the manager regarding the lack of communication about the unavailable service, Jenny alleged that she was met with a dismissive response. The manager purportedly stated, “This is how things are done in Johor. If you’re not happy, get your car washed in Singapore instead.” Moreover, Jenny further expressed feeling intimidated by the manager’s behavior, as he instructed his staff to remember her face and car for future reference.

Expressing her disappointment with the service, Jenny called for stricter enforcement by authorities to ensure that customers, especially those from across the border in Singapore, are treated fairly. She emphasized the need for car wash operators to provide transparency and quality service to all patrons.

When contacted by The New Straits Times for a response, the car wash’s manager was reportedly unavailable, leaving unanswered questions about the incident. The concerns raised by Jenny highlight the importance of customer service standards in the car wash industry, especially for customers traveling from another country.
