Cross-Company Collaboration Leads to Arrest of Upskirt Photo Suspect at Dhoby Ghaut MRT

Collaborative Efforts Lead to Arrest of Upskirt Photo Suspect at Dhoby Ghaut MRT

In an exemplary display of teamwork and swift action, SBS Transit and SMRT employees collaborated to apprehend a man suspected of taking upskirt photos at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. According to SMRT’s Facebook post, the incident occurred on 29 January, where the man was allegedly infringing upon the privacy of two female commuters. In a statement, SMRT reported that the man attempted to escape between the North-South Line (NSL) and the North-East Line (NEL), both of which run through Dhoby Ghaut MRT.

Upon receiving a call from SMRT, SBS Transit staff members, including station manager Aurelius and assistant station manager Hafiz, swiftly sprang into action. The suspect was eventually located at the NEL platform with the assistance of SMRT station manager Ira and assistant station managers Sangkari and Suzaine. Despite the suspect’s attempts to resist arrest and delete evidence from his phone, the teamwork between the two companies proved effective in preventing his escape. Aurelius managed to hold the suspect’s arms while Hafiz successfully seized his phone, ensuring the preservation of crucial evidence.

Following the incident, the suspect was handed over to the authorities, and the quick and decisive actions of the five staff members were highly praised. The seamless collaboration between SBS and SMRT was commended at a ceremony attended by executives from both companies. Notably, Mr. Koh Boon Yeow, Mr. Alvin Yeo, Mr. Teo Wee Kiat, and Mr. Richard Loong recognized the employees for their dedication to ensuring commuter safety.

SMRT lauded the staff for their commitment to safeguarding commuters, while SBS reiterated their dedication to working together as part of the One Transport family to prioritize commuter safety and comfort.
