A 63-year-old hawker found several Singapore Pools 4D lottery tickets at Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple after watching a Chinese New Year lion dance performance on February 3, 2025.
Chen Yi Ming discovered that one of the tickets contained the number “3388” with a two-dollar “big” bet and a two-dollar “small” bet, scheduled for draws on February 8 and 9, 2025.
The ticket won first prize in the February 9 draw, with a prize money of approximately S$10,000, according to Singapore Pools records.
Chen brought the lottery ticket to Sengkang Police Station the next day to surrender it.
In an interview with Shin Min Daily News, Chen stated that the money did not belong to her, adding that the ticket’s owner “is surely panicking” over the S$10,000 loss.
Singapore law classifies the claiming of prize money from lottery tickets by non-purchasers as cheating. Offenders face up to ten years in jail, with penalties varying based on criminal records and the amount claimed.
Chen said she hopes the owner will claim the ticket after seeing the news report.
