Amir Ali Bin Mohamad Ali, 71, received a jail sentence of 20 months and one week for molesting a nine-year-old boy and attacking healthcare workers and security staff at Changi General Hospital.
Ali pleaded guilty to three charges at the State Courts on Monday, March 3, 2025, with additional charges taken into consideration during sentencing.
Court documents showed that on October 8, 2024, Ali called out to a boy cycling past Block 463B Sengkang West Road. After engaging in casual conversation, Ali forcibly kissed the child and attempted to insert his tongue into the boy’s mouth. The victim turned away and managed to free himself.
The boy reported the incident to his teacher at a student care center, who contacted his guardian and filed a police report.
In January 2024, Ali visited Changi General Hospital due to dizziness. While in the emergency department, he became agitated and verbally abused a nurse before pushing a portable medical device at her, striking her abdomen.
In May 2024, during another hospital visit, Ali requested to go outside to smoke after waking from a dream about his late mother. When security officers tried to keep him in bed for safety reasons, Ali punched one officer in the face.
During his court appearance, Ali apologized for his actions and asked for leniency, citing health issues including neck surgery requiring nine screws and pending knee surgery, as well as financial concerns about his HDB flat rental.
