A crow infestation has emerged near Block 685 in Hougang, an area known for its popular Singapore Pools outlet.
Residents from Block 685 and surrounding buildings have reported hearing crow calls daily starting at 6:00 AM and lasting until about 8:00 AM. The birds return around 5:00 PM, creating an ongoing disturbance for locals.
The problem has persisted for approximately six months, according to a recent Shin Min Daily News report. Residents have found bird droppings on park benches and in parking areas, raising hygiene concerns.
The Singapore Pools outlet Tong Aik Huat, located under Block 685 in Hougang Street 61, previously gained fame for producing 20 top prize lottery winners.
Ang Mo Kio Town Council has responded to the situation by sending gardening teams to remove crow nests from trees in affected areas. They plan to collaborate with the National Parks Board on crow management initiatives in the coming weeks.
Additional measures include deploying a bird management team to conduct crow trapping operations in N6 Park and regularly trimming trees and shrubs to prevent nesting.
The town council will post notices in nearby neighborhoods advising residents against feeding crows and requesting that garbage bags be tied securely to limit food sources that attract the birds.
Officials have committed to ongoing monitoring and active steps to maintain a clean, safe environment for residents.
