A fight broke out at a coffee shop on 21 South Bridge Road around 6:30am on Friday (28 Feb 2025).
A man sustained head injuries after being hit with a wine glass during what witnesses called a drunken altercation.
Police Response
Photos from Shin Min Daily News readers showed multiple police vehicles and ambulances at the location.
Police sealed off the coffee shop and investigated the scene, where they found a blue plastic chair knocked over.
A coffee shop worker who arrived at 7am told reporters that police had blocked the entire premises. Medical personnel were treating a man with head injuries at that time.
The worker mentioned that police had blocked the sidewalk outside the coffee shop until approximately 8am.
Previous Incidents
Another staff member reported that while no store items were damaged, several chairs were overturned.
The staff noted that drunk individuals frequently cause problems on South Bridge Road.
Blood was spotted next to and around trash cans in the aisle outside the coffee shop, according to Shin Min Daily News.
Staff confirmed this was not the first time police had been called to this location.
Arrests and Charges
Police confirmed receiving an emergency call about the incident. A spokesperson said a 35-year-old man was taken to the hospital while conscious and is being investigated for intentionally causing injury and using criminal force.
Authorities subsequently arrested a 31-year-old man for Rash Act Causing Hurt. The investigation continues.
