HomeTeamNS suffered a ransomware attack on its servers. The non-profit organization that serves national servicemen from Singapore’s Police Force and Civil Defence Force discovered the attack on February 25, 2025.
The cyber breach affected servers containing employee data and vehicle information of some members. HomeTeamNS officials announced the incident on March 3, 2025.
The compromised servers were quickly disabled and isolated from the organization’s IT network after discovery. HomeTeamNS stated there is currently no evidence of data extraction, but they continue to monitor the situation closely.
The attack impacted information about current and former employees, along with vehicle details of some members and affiliate members. HomeTeamNS has over 260,000 NSmen in its membership base. The organization runs four clubhouses with sports facilities, recreational areas, and food and beverage outlets.
Following the attack, HomeTeamNS implemented several security measures. These include changing passwords for all administrative accounts, improving security scans and firewalls, hiring third-party cybersecurity experts for investigation, and working with authorities like the police and Cyber Security Agency of Singapore.
The organization has contacted affected individuals with guidance on protecting themselves from potential phishing attempts or unauthorized transactions.
