A private bus caught fire along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Thursday (6 March), marking the second vehicle fire of the day. Video clips shared on social media platforms depicted the bus ablaze in the middle of the expressway. As one source shared, “Fire appears to start from back of bus on BKE.”
The Land Transport Authority’s traffic news account issued statements advising motorists to avoid specific lanes due to the congestion caused by the accident. At one point, the situation was described as follows: “Accident causes congestion, LTA advises motorists to avoid 4 lanes.”
Furthermore, information from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) revealed that 12 individuals, including the bus driver and 11 passengers, self-evacuated before the arrival of emergency services. SCDF successfully extinguished the fire with three water jets, with no injuries reported. In response to inquiries, SCDF stated, “The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
