A collision between a truck and a car occurred at the junction of Punggol East and Punggol Central yesterday evening at approximately 6:40 PM.

The truck lost control after the collision and mounted a pedestrian walkway. Several migrant workers in the truck and its bed suffered injuries. Five workers were transported to hospitals.

Two workers sitting in the truck bed sustained serious injuries. One worker had a bleeding head wound with a large pool of blood nearby. Another injured worker had blood stains on his sleeve, according to zaobao.sg.

Police officers and civil defense personnel were at the scene when reporters arrived. The car involved remained in the middle of the road with severe front-end damage. Car debris and oil stains were visible on the road.

Some workers set up barriers around the damaged vehicle and helped direct traffic. Police were seen questioning a man believed to be the driver.

An eyewitness, a migrant worker, stated that the truck was traveling along Punggol East before colliding with a car going straight on Punggol Central. “After the collision, the truck lost control and plowed straight ahead, mounting the pedestrian walkway. The truck only stopped after hitting the hoardings of our construction site,” the eyewitness said.

Police confirmed that five truck passengers, aged between 25 and 45, were taken to the hospital while conscious. The Civil Defence Force stated that four injured persons were sent to Sengkang General Hospital, while one was taken to Changi General Hospital.

Two others involved in the crash had minor injuries but declined hospital transport after medical assessment.

The case remains under investigation.
