“One dead in car fire after accident along Nicoll Highway,” reports Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) following a tragic incident on Sunday (Mar 2). The victim, a male driver, was trapped inside the vehicle when it burst into flames. According to SCDF, the incident occurred at about 2.10pm along Nicoll Highway towards Guillemard Road, just before the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) entrance.
“Seven persons from other vehicles involved in the accident were assessed by SCDF,” as two individuals were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before discovering the driver inside the burnt vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. The accident involved five cars along Nicoll Highway towards Guillemard Road, resulting in two other men being conveyed conscious to the hospital. Investigations are currently ongoing.
Videos circulating on social media depict the harrowing accident, showing a blue car careening on its side along a slip road, crashing past multiple vehicles before landing on a road divider and bursting into flames. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also alerted the public about the accident at the Nicoll Highway Entrance, announcing road closures in the area.
