A female diner experienced severe burns on her legs when a food court employee accidentally spilled hot chicken soup on her during a meal with colleagues.
The incident happened at Palate Food Court in North Link Building on Admiralty Street on February 25, 2025, at approximately 7:20 PM. The victim shared details of the accident on RedNote social media platform on March 21, 2025.
According to her post, she and her coworkers ordered “iron pot stewed chicken,” a Northeastern Chinese dish. The stall owner informed them they would need to wait an hour for the meal.
When the food finally arrived after the full hour wait, a stall employee accidentally poured the hot chicken soup onto the woman’s leg. She immediately rinsed the burned area at the stall’s sink for nearly 20 minutes before going to the hospital for treatment.
Photos posted online show significant redness and blisters on her right thigh, with smaller blisters on her other thigh. The victim reported that her thighs continued to develop new blisters for two weeks following the incident.
“My legs keep developing new blisters. I clean the wound five times daily and return to the hospital every two to three days for check-ups and cleaning. I also want to remind everyone to keep away when hot food is served,” the victim stated.
She mentioned that the stall owner acknowledged responsibility, noting they had been operating for 10 years, and asked her to focus on recovery. After three weeks, when her wounds had partially healed, she returned to request compensation.
Reporters who contacted the victim confirmed she is actively seeking compensation. When visiting the food court, reporters observed four tables equipped with stoves that could hold “large iron pots” in the center.
A stall employee explained that for “iron pot stewed chicken” orders, they cook the chicken in an iron pot and serve the entire pot at the table. Charcoal is added to the stove to maintain the heat for the stewed chicken.
