A 40-year-old Ang Mo Kio resident has reported ongoing issues with two female neighbors whose behavior has created problems in their shared living space at Block 512, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8.
The resident, identified as Vincent (name transliterated from Mandarin), told Shin Min Daily News that the neighbors block common corridors with potted plants and various items. They also splash water on the floor, yell at people walking by, and have recently begun waving underwear in the corridor as a form of “protest.”
Vincent described how the situation has worsened: “Previously, when we passed by their door, they would suddenly shout for no apparent reason, as if trying to frighten us. We tried not to make a big deal out of these incidents. However, in recent weeks, their behavior has become increasingly bizarre and unpredictable, which has led me to worry about my family’s safety.”
The neighbors have placed many items throughout the shared corridor space, including large potted plants, clothes racks, and household objects. These items have narrowed the walkway, making it hard for residents to move through the common area.
Vincent also noted that one of the neighbors often positions herself in the corridor, appearing to intentionally block others from passing. The most recent development involves the woman using underwear during what residents describe as provocative “dancing” performances directed at specific units.
When asked about possible reasons for this behavior, Vincent stated that the provocations have always come from the neighbors. He said neither he nor his family has ever retaliated, choosing instead to ignore the disruptions to maintain peace.
Another resident from the same floor, who requested anonymity due to fear of confrontation, provided additional information. She noted that their floor contains five separate units, and the residents have lived there for more than 40 years. Despite this long history, she has never spoken with or greeted the sisters.
“They frequently direct verbal abuse at people passing by their unit, and the language they use is offensive and inappropriate for a shared living space,” she said.
The anonymous resident revealed that last month, the town council intervened and issued an official notice requiring the sisters to remove their belongings from the corridor. Rather than complying peacefully, the sisters blamed neighbors for complaining, which led to several days of verbal abuse directed at nearby residents before they eventually quieted down.
