Red Dot United (RDU) has unveiled its full slate of candidates for the newly formed Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC and the Jurong Central SMC, marking a significant expansion from its debut in the 2020 General Election.
Leading the five-member GRC team are Mr Osman Sulaiman, 50, and Ms Liyana Dhamirah, 38 – both with prior political experience. Mr Osman previously contested under the Reform Party and Singapore People’s Party, while Ms Liyana stood with RDU in Jurong GRC in 2020.
Joining them are contemporary artist Ben Puah, 48; marketing director Marcus Neo, 33; and software engineer Harish Mohanadas, 39.
In the new Jurong Central SMC, RDU is fielding Madam Emily Woo, 59, a longtime Jurong resident and piano teacher. She cited municipal concerns such as littering and maintenance issues and pledged to address them if elected.
Speaking at a press conference on April 16, RDU secretary-general Ravi Philemon said all candidates were carefully selected after studying the demographics and needs of residents. “We have done our work. These are not randomly picked candidates. These constituencies are winnable,” he said.
Mr Philemon added that the Malay/Muslim population in Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC is above the national average, and highlighted the importance of stronger representation. He introduced Mr Osman and Ms Liyana as anchor candidates who could better advocate for issues affecting the community.
The RDU team will face off against the PAP’s slate led by Minister Grace Fu, alongside Ministers of State Murali Pillai and Rahayu Mahzam, as well as political newcomers David Hoe and Lee Hong Chuang.
In Jurong Central SMC, Madam Woo will contest against PAP incumbent Xie Yao Quan.
This is part of RDU’s broader strategy for GE2025, with other planned contests in Nee Soon GRC, Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, Tanjong Pagar GRC, Jalan Kayu SMC and Radin Mas SMC.
