Shipping lawyer and long-time PAP volunteer Gho Sze Kee was seen at an SG60 event on April 6 alongside incumbent MPs from the Marine Parade cluster, fuelling speculation that she may be fielded as a candidate in the upcoming general election.
It marks Ms Gho’s first appearance at a Marine Parade-wide event, although she has been actively accompanying Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan at community engagements since August 2024 — including National Day events and house visits in Geylang, Katong and Mountbatten.
At the event held at Kampong Ubi Community Centre, Ms Gho joined Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Marine Parade MPs onstage to launch two new initiatives: the Caregiver Support Fund, offering up to $1,600 for families in need, and the Industry Immersive Programme, which provides internships for young residents.
Other attendees included Manpower Minister Tan See Leng (Marine Parade), Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong (Joo Chiat), Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng (Braddell Heights), and Mayor Fahmi Aliman (Geylang Serai), along with MacPherson MP Tin Pei Ling and Mr Lim.
Two other possible new PAP candidates — Diana Pang and Dr Choo Pei Ling — were also present. Dr Choo currently serves as second adviser in Kembangan-Chai Chee.
Ms Gho, in her mid-40s, did not speak to media but was seen actively engaging with residents at the event. A former Bukit Timah branch secretary, she spoke at the 2021 PAP convention, where she called for greater diversity within the party.
She received the Public Service Medal in 2023 and is currently an associate director at AsiaLegal, a maritime-focused law firm.
