The Workers’ Party (WP) has launched its 2025 General Election campaign with the slogan “Working for Singapore”, calling on voters to step up and support its vision for a stronger, more balanced political system.
In a social media announcement on April 15, just after the Writ of Election was issued, WP said that while its slogans may evolve, its mission remains unchanged: to represent the diversity of Singaporeans and contribute to building a First World Parliament.
The party highlighted its progress since 2020, where it achieved its best electoral showing with 10 MPs in Parliament, securing Aljunied and Sengkang GRCs and Hougang SMC. WP chief Pritam Singh became Singapore’s first formal Leader of the Opposition.
“From 2020 to 2025, our ideas were heard and acted upon,” the party said. “But the work is not done. We will continue to work for Singapore, and we hope you will step up and do so too.” The WP also released a campaign video featuring its eight elected MPs. In it, Gerald Giam stressed the need for political balance, while Jamus Lim said contests were vital for innovation and democracy. Sylvia Lim asked, “If the PAP fails, what is our Plan B?” Pritam Singh described Singaporeans as the “true agents of change.”
WP’s election plans have been closely guarded, but The Straits Times reports that it may contest at least 30 seats – the party’s largest slate yet. These are expected to include Aljunied, Sengkang, Punggol, East Coast, Marine Parade-Braddell Heights, and Tampines GRCs, along with Hougang and Tampines Changkat SMCs.
At least 17 newcomers are expected, including professionals such as psychologist Dr Ong Lue Ping, Harvard-educated startup COO Michael Thng, and AI firm director Kenneth Tiong. Lawyer Sufyan Mikhail Putra, recently seen in Punggol, is also likely to stand.
