Jennie from BLACKPINK performed at Coachella 2025 over two weekends. Some viewers expressed concern about her energy levels during these performances.
Critics noted the idol appeared tired throughout her sets, sparking online discussions about her health and stamina. Fans defended her while others continued discussing the physical demands of live performances.
The conversation about Jennie’s energy levels caused a previous interview to resurface. In a January 31 episode of YouTube show “Hyell’s Club” hosted by Girls’ Day member Hyeri, Jennie made notable comments about her relationship with food.
During their conversation, Jennie told Hyeri she doesn’t particularly enjoy eating. “Not really. People around me feel sorry for that, too,” she said when asked if she likes food.
When Hyeri asked if Jennie would replace meals with a pill if possible, Jennie replied, “I would absolutely love to. I wonder why something like that hasn’t been developed yet.”
Jennie explained further: “I’m sorry. I just apologize now. I used to say that a lot back in the day. I was always too lazy to eat or decide what to eat.” She noted some change in her attitude toward food, adding, “But now I’ve gotten much better. Now I find myself saying things like ‘Oh, I want to eat Tteokbokki!'”
This interview resurfaced in a viral TikTok discussing Jennie’s Coachella performance. Some users suggested a connection between her diet and her perceived lack of energy while performing.
Many commenters referenced Jennie’s previous statements about eating and the importance of having muscles as a performer. The discussion expanded to K-pop idols’ diets in general, with some calling for industry-wide changes.
The main concern for many fans remains focused on performers having sufficient energy to perform without compromising their health.
