A 52-year-old man faces trial for allegedly molesting and sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s daughter over a period of one year.

The assaults reportedly took place at their home and at cemetery locations.

The trial began on April 8, 2025, with the man pleading not guilty to seven charges including molestation, sexual assault, and sexual exploitation.

The victim, now 14 years old, was between 10 and 11 years old when the alleged incidents occurred. The court has issued a gag order preventing the publication of any information that might identify the girl, including the defendant’s name.

The prosecution stated that the accused moved into a two-room HDB flat in northern Singapore with the victim, her mother, and the victim’s younger brother in 2021. The living arrangement had the accused and the victim’s mother sharing a bedroom, while the children slept on mattresses in the living room.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the victim reported that in February 2021, she woke up to find the accused molesting her. He allegedly attempted penetration twice without success before succeeding days later.

On May 24, 2021, the accused reportedly assaulted the victim in his truck while parked at a Muslim cemetery. When the victim tried to avoid further assault by sleeping on her stomach, he allegedly assaulted her anally.

The prosecution also claims that the accused took the victim to a cemetery to collect water and forced her to help him masturbate inside his truck.

The victim initially told her mother about the assaults, but when confronted, the accused denied the allegations. The abuse allegedly continued until February 2022, when the victim broke down while visiting her half-sister and disclosed the sexual assaults.

The victim’s father later accompanied her to file a police report.

Court documents show that the accused operated a tombstone business, explaining the cemetery locations. Due to irregular work schedules of both the accused and the victim’s mother, the children often accompanied them to work after school and sometimes slept in the truck parked at cemeteries.
