Police detained an 18-year-old naked jogger in Shah Alam, Malaysia on Tuesday (8 Apr 2025).
The teen was spotted running without clothes near Persiaran Kayangan, Section 8 around 8:30 AM at a traffic light junction.
Witnesses said the young man seemed disoriented but continued jogging along the footpath, unaware he wasn’t wearing clothes.
A video of the incident showing the man crossing a busy road and jogging on a footpath naked was posted on Facebook by SAYS SEISMIK on Tuesday. The clip went viral with over 400,000 views.
Officers from Section 6 Police Station responded after receiving multiple reports from the public through the Shah Alam District Police Control Centre.
“After being persuaded and reassured, the individual was successfully brought to Section 6 police station,” Shah Alam District Police Chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said in a statement.
At the police station, officers gave the young man clothes. They found he could only communicate with hand gestures.
The teenager was able to write down a contact number for his guardian when given pen and paper.
The teen’s relatives later arrived at the police station. His uncle explained that the 18-year-old had been living with family members near the location in Section 9, Shah Alam.
The relative revealed the teen had serious mental health issues and had previously received psychiatric treatment at Seberang Jaya Hospital in Penang.
Police released the young man to his family’s care. Mohd Iqbal said the teenager will receive further evaluation and treatment at Hospital Shah Alam.
