A Chinese Malaysian business owner and his son were severely injured after six masked assailants with knives attacked them at their heavy machinery repair shop in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The attack happened at 9:39 AM on Saturday (13 Apr 2025) at a heavy machinery repair shop located in Xinsheng Village at 17th Mile.
The victims were a 60-year-old shop owner and his approximately 30-year-old son.
According to the female shop owner who spoke to media at Sarawak General Hospital’s emergency department, they had opened their shop at 8:00 AM. At 9:38 AM, two silver Proton Waja cars arrived, and about six masked men with knives rushed into the shop.
The attackers specifically targeted the father and son. The female shop owner and an elderly woman present during the attack were not harmed.
Padawan district police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the incident.
The attackers fled in their vehicles without stealing anything from the shop.
Family members took the injured father and son to a local hospital immediately after the attack. Due to the severity of their injuries, the father was transferred to Sarawak General Hospital’s emergency department red zone at around 5:00 PM. The son was transferred to the same facility around 7:00 PM.
The father suffered deep cuts to both hands and his left foot, with the left hand injury being the most serious. The son had multiple cuts to his hands and feet.
The female shop owner told Oriental Daily News that all attackers had their faces completely covered, making identification impossible.
Padawan district police chief Mohd Irwan confirmed the incident. He said police are investigating the case under Section 326 of the Criminal Procedure Code (causing grievous hurt).
Police are reviewing security footage from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses to identify the suspects.
No motive for the attack has been established.
