A 15-year-old boy was arrested with his mother and stepfather during a Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) anti-drug operation, officials announced on April 14, 2025.
The family was among 107 suspected drug offenders caught during the five-day operation from April 7 to 11. The operation covered areas including Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Bedok, Marsiling, Punggol and Tampines.
CNB officers arrested the family on April 9 after raiding their home in the Marsiling Road area. The operation led to the arrest of four Singaporeans, including the 15-year-old boy, his 44-year-old mother, and his 42-year-old stepfather.
Officers found small amounts of ‘Ice’ and drug paraphernalia in the unit. All suspects tested positive for controlled drugs in urine tests. Initial investigations showed the boy had taken drugs from his stepfather.
The student was the youngest person arrested during the operation.
In a separate raid on April 8, CNB officers targeted a home in Choa Chu Kang. The occupants refused to let officers in, forcing authorities to break entry. Two Singaporeans—a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman—were arrested for suspected drug trafficking. About 28g of heroin was seized.
On April 10, during an operation near Chai Chee Avenue, a 52-year-old man refused to open his door and threatened to ignite a gas cylinder while his elderly mother was in the home. Officers from the Singapore Police Force Special Operations Command, Crisis Negotiation Unit, and Singapore Civil Defence Force were called. The man later surrendered and was arrested for criminal intimidation and drug offenses. A search found about 6g of heroin, 0.7g of ‘Ice’, and drug paraphernalia.
The five-day operation yielded approximately 133g of ‘Ice’, 78g of cannabis, 69g of heroin, 0.4g of ketamine, and 16 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets. The drugs have an estimated street value of more than S$25,400 (US$19,000).
CNB stated that anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of pure heroin may face the mandatory death penalty in Singapore.
Investigations into all arrested suspects continue.
