A 76-year-old man lost consciousness following a car crash at Anderson Secondary School polling station on May 3.
The accident happened at 3:25 PM outside the polling station on Ang Mo Kio Street 53. Dashcam footage showed a dark grey sedan parked with both doors open. Three people stood near the vehicle when the car suddenly moved forward as the elderly man was entering the driver’s seat. The car hit the school building’s outer wall within seconds, dragging the man along.
Police told Shin Min Daily News that the man’s daughter drove the car initially. The incident occurred during a driver switch. By Saturday evening, the car remained on the walkway with its trunk open and a police officer guarding the cordoned area.
The elderly man was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital unconscious. Three others got minor injuries but declined hospital transport. Police ruled out criminal intent and continue to investigate the case.
