A chain collision between two double-decker buses and a private-hire car injured 13 people near Temasek Junior College on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at 10:15am near the junction of Tampines Avenue 2 and Tampines Avenue 7. Police received reports at 10:15am on 5 Aug 2025.

The rear bus hit the front bus, which then crashed into a private-hire vehicle ahead. Both double-decker SBS buses suffered major damage with broken windows and bent frames.

A side mirror from one bus lay scattered on the road. The number “4” flickered on the front bus’s display sign.

Zhuo, the 61-year-old private-hire driver, had just taken his first job of the day. “All I felt was a strong impact at the back. I didn’t realize what was happening,” he told Shin Min Daily News.

Zhuo called for help and remained in his damaged car after discovering he’d been hit. His vehicle’s rear section was crushed.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force sent a 69-year-old male bus driver and 12 bus passengers to hospital. All victims remained conscious during transport. Ages ranged from 30 to 69 years old.

Five people went to Changi General Hospital. Eight others were taken to Sengkang General Hospital.

Police continue investigating the incident.
