A family of otters was spotted and decided to take over a road in Toa Payoh. A TikTok video posted by a user named Ms. J showed the driver of a white car waiting patiently while a group of otters lounged in front of the vehicle.

The video, which looked like it was filmed from above, showed the car stopped in a turning lane. Soon after, an SBS Transit bus pulled up right behind it. But the otters didn’t seem to care about the traffic at all. They just kept playing around on the road. At least four otters were seen in the video.
Ms. J, the person who filmed the video, told MS News that this happened on Monday, August 11, at about 6 PM. She and her kids were crossing from the Bishan Circular Cycling Ramp to Toa Payoh when they saw it all unfold.
Ms. J said, “I thought it was really cute that the otters were oblivious to the inconvenience they were causing. They were dashing here and there, some were rolling about the road, unfazed that a car had stopped right in front of them.” She also guessed that the otters were probably from the well-known Bishan family.
The car and the bus only moved once the otters had finished crossing the road and were safely on the other side. In a second video, the otters were seen hanging out on the kerb that separates the turning lane from the busy Braddell Road.
Mixed Reactions from Netizens
The video got a lot of attention online. A bunch of people on TikTok praised the driver of the car for being so patient. However, many others pointed out that the white car was breaking traffic rules because it was driving in a bus-only lane.
