A minibus accident in Bukit Panjang left three people injured and sent them to the hospital. The incident happened on the afternoon of August 19, when the minibus fell into a canal near the Senja-Cashew Community Club. The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at about 1.10 pm. The crash involved a bus and a minibus, according to police.
When the SCDF arrived at the scene, their officers used a ladder to get to the three people who were stuck in the Pang Sua Canal. The minibus driver, a 68-year-old man, and his two passengers, a 53-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, were all taken to the hospital while conscious.
The three injured people were taken to different hospitals. Two of them were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and the third was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Photos of the accident, which were posted on Facebook, showed the minibus with a damaged bumper sitting in the middle of the canal. The vehicle had the logo of the International Community School, which is an international school in Jubilee Road, on its side.
A representative from the school said that the minibus is operated by their transportation provider, Goh Transport. In a joint statement, the school and the transport company confirmed that none of the school’s students were involved in the accident, as classes were still going on at the time. The statement clarified that the minibus was being used to transport students from another, unnamed school.
The three people who were injured in the crash were the driver, a bus attendant, and a student. As of 6.45 pm on the evening of the incident, both the bus attendant and the student were recovering in a normal ward at the hospital. The school and the company were still waiting for an update on the driver’s condition.
Police investigations into the accident are still ongoing.
